Payment, Refund and Privacy Policies
Prepayment at the time of registration is required.
Course Transfer – Live Classes (minimum of 4 business days notice)
A one time transfer to another course may be requested at least four business days prior to the course at no charge.
One additional transfer may be requested: a $20 fee applies.
Cancel With Notice- Live Classes
(minimum of 4 business days notice)
To receive a refund, the candidate must cancel more than four business days prior
to the course date. The candidate will be refunded the course fee less $20.00 cancellation fee.
Cancel Without Notice – Live Classes
(less than 4 business days)
No refunds will be given when candidate cancels less than four business days prior to the course date.
Candidate may transfer to another course; a $20 fee applies.
Once a candidate transfers to another course, the candidate may no longer request or obtain a refund should they decide to subsequently cancel or downgrade the certification training course for which they were originally registered.
When candidates do not show up for the course in which they have registered, the full course fee per candidate will be charged and no refund will be given.
Please notify Oakfield Safety in advance of any absence due to illness. A notified absence due to illness (minimum 24 hours notice) will be treated as a Course Transfer.
As an additional precaution against transmission of colds and influenza, you will not be permitted to attend a class if you exhibit signs of such illness. You will be asked to request a transfer to a different date.
The CPR course requires physical exertion. Individuals with existing medical conditions such as pregnancy, bone, muscle, and joint conditions, and respiratory conditions, should consult a doctor prior to attendance. We do not assume any risk or liability for injuries or illness that may result from course participation. Please talk to your doctor and stay safe.
Course cancellation by Oakfield Safety:
Though rare, Oakfield Safety reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule a course in the case of an emergency, instructor illness or low class enrolment. In such an event, participants may choose either a full refund or transfer to another date.
Oakfield Safety will attempt to notify participants of any cancellations at least 48 hours prior to a course.
During winter months we will attempt to notify participants of any cancellations due to storm conditions at least 24 hours prior to a course.
Course certification requirements:
For all Courses: Participants are required to attend the entire class, and participation is mandatory.
Canadian Red Cross certification is provided upon successful completion of the course. The certification cards are issued by Red Cross as e-cards. Students will receive an email from Red Cross with instructions on how to access their e-card.
For First Aid/CPR Courses: Participants are evaluated based on their ability to perform the first aid and CPR skills during the course, in addition to a written multiple choice test.
Home Alone certificates of participation are given to students at the end of class.
Babysitter Course certificates are given to students that have participated in the class, demonstrated the required skills and passed a written test.
Refunds are not provided for unsuccessful attempts.
The participant must provide proof of current certification before the class begins. If the participant cannot provide proof of certification, the participant may be allowed to join the class if they choose, but will not receive a new certificate until proof of the current one is provided. If the participant fails to provide proof of current certificate the participant will forfeit the full course fee.
Risk to participant
The participant understands that there will be a physical involvement to their course. If the participant cannot perform the CPR component, they may take part in the course; however, they will not be certified by the Canadian Red Cross or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Oakfield Safety is not responsible or liable for any injury that may happen during the course.
Oakfield Safety strongly believes in respect. Any verbal or physical harassment will not be tolerated. Participants who harass others, use inappropriate language or make offensive jokes will be asked to leave the class and will not receive a refund or a chance to re-apply. The participant will not be given their certification if they have not completed the course requirements. Appeals may be made to the management of Oakfield Safety only.
Participants can appeal any objection of their certification to the instructor at the end of their class. The instructor will make all reasonable and time-permitting attempts to assist the participant in any area he/she may need further instruction. If that attempt fails, the participant may appeal to the management of Oakfield Safety via email or in person with a written/typed letter. The participant may be asked to repeat all or a portion of the course at a later date agreed upon by the participant and Oakfield Safety. If available, a different instructor will be used. If the participant is again unsuccessful he/she will have to re-register into another course and re-pay the original fee.
All complaints will go directly to management of Oakfield Safety and will be handled as soon as possible during regular business hours. If the complaint is urgent, all instructors have after-hours contact information of the management of Oakfield Safety. Every reasonable attempt will be made to resolve the complaint in a timely and appropriate manner. Complaints can be made via email, phone, or in person.
Late or No Arrival
If arriving late, it is at the instructor’s discretion whether the participant may or may not be allowed to enter the class, and the participant may forfeit the full course fee. If the participant does not show up to the course and has not made arrangements or reschedules before the course begins, the participant forfeits all fees. Extreme circumstances may be excused and is at the instructor’s discretion. We strongly encourage everyone to arrive at least 10 minutes before the class begins.
All locations will have restrooms and some locations may be subject to parking fees. If there is any change of the location, participants will be notified via phone or email before the course begins.
Online Classes – Refund Policy
Once students are sent the course login information no refunds will be given.
Our Commitment To Privacy
We take customer privacy seriously and do not sell or give out any customer information.
Personal data collected by Oakfield Safety, such as participant’s name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail, etc., is used to register participants in current and future courses. Oakfield Safety participants could receive an email or telephone notification when the issued certificate is about to expire as well as other emails preceding or following a class. Should participants desire not be notified, participants may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of an Oakfield Safety email. Oakfield Safety will not sell or share any personal information. Oakfield Safety transfers participant information for certification purposes to the the Canadian Safety Council, Canadian Red Cross and Heart and Stroke Foundation,(depending on the course participants are taking) through a secure database. Therefore, Oakfield Safety is not responsible for any intercepted information sent through any unsecured wireless devices.
