Marina has been teaching since she was 11. Starting as a piano teacher for the neighbourhood kids she also babysat. After High School she taught several Deaf children on a Hutterite Colony before moving to Edmonton. There she studied teaching English as a Second Language, completed the Pre-Interpreter Program for American Sign Language as well as her Emergency Medical Technician- Ambulance training. While in Edmonton she also taught First Aid/CPR after completing her training with EMP Canada. In 2001, she took an opportunity to travel to Thailand and taught fourth grade to Thai kids. Two years later she returned to Canada where she met and married her husband, Paul. They now have 3 children.
In 2013 Marina opened Oakfield Safety, ready to start teaching First Aid again, but was interrupted by the High River flood. Since moving to Stavely, post flood, she’s been teaching classes in Southern Alberta. Marina’s love of learning, teaching and watching others learn is evident in her dynamic teaching style. Although most people only take a First Aid/CPR class ‘because they have to’, it is Marina’s goal to make the class a fun and memorable learning experience.
